I used Chaotica Fractal software to create this design. I never know where the original unformed imagery will go. Here I played with square formulas until I was satisfied with the jewel-like three dimensional effect. Lots of cool colors and the optical art design reminded me of the 1960's so I titled it "It's Cool To Be Square" which is the terminology we used then.
Welcome to my world of Fractal Art. In a nutshell, fractals are images which are self-perpetuating. The overall pattern spawns its own shape ad infinitum. Fractals are found in nature (think leaf veins, branching tree limbs, a rose spiraling inward), as well as in the abstract domain. A limitless variety of designs, colors, and shapes are possible. The software I use is aptly called “Chaotica.” I start with randomly generated chaotic shapes and patterns, and then form them into a pleasing design, mimicking the perfection of the evolutionary processes within the natural world.
